St George Hotel Rochester-Chatham

The bed was broken on the right hand side, and a towel had been used to bolster the broken part. The paint was chipping off the bathroom and toilet doors in chunks, the black mold on the bathroom ceiling had been attempted to be painted over, pipework in the bathroom and toilet was fully exposed, would look better being boxed in, when paying I was told they only accepted cash, I would have preferred paying by card

OK bud I stayed for two days with no TV because it was not working

The food was good but bathing water was cold

I was concerned having read reviews but my experience was much better than expected. The hotel is 6 or 7 minutes walk from both Chatham train station and the Waterfront Bus Station and lots of buses pass the door. reception is simple but professional and, having experienced a quick efficient & friendly registration, walked through a very smart bar restaurant to the lift which worked well. my room, 102 on the first floor, was spacious with separate bath tub and loo. I could see the river- just - and the surrounding hillside. it was clean, with comfy bed, thick curtains, t&coffee making facilities. all lights worked and I was not disturbed by any noise. there were a couple of little ******* (blown double glazed window and unfinished plumbing in the bathroom) but was pleasantly surprised. brekky was quite satisfactory and efficiently managed by a single member of staff who coped with multiple arrivals whilst I was there.

The hotel is very welcoming and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble and no request was unmet. Myself and my Grandma felt extremely safe and the service delivered was tailored to our visit. The breakfast was very filling and the food served in the restaurant was really good value for money. Absolutely will be visiting again !! The young chap on the reception was a fountain of knowledge about the area.

Great value stay with on site parking Onky hiccup during my stay was coming back to the hotel on the second day to find no electricity and no one explained anything even left a message on reception but no reply Came back on a few hours later Also emptied bin daily but didn’t top anything up unless you specifically left a note TV remote didn’t work but otherwise ok

This was our final stop on a long drive from Greece. The hotel is seriously tired and worn out. The decor, carpets and furniture are all in need of replacement. We chose it as pet friendly and paid up front. We were then charged an extra £20 for having pets due to the steam clean needed after our stay. The dogs weren't allowed in the breakfast room so we had to have breakfast in the bar. This would have been fine had we not had to get our own cereals, toast, coffee etc., down two flights of stairs.

I recently spent six days at this hotel, and unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory. On a positive note, the view from the room was delightful. However, the negatives far outweighed this single redeeming feature. Firstly, cleanliness was a major concern. The bed sheets were not clean, and even the mattress seemed neglected. Furthermore, the cups in the room were not washed, and remnants from the previous guest were left behind, indicating a lack of attention to detail in housekeeping. The hotel itself is in dire need of renovation. The building is old, and cracks in the walls were visible, which detracted from the overall ambiance and comfort. Additionally, the breakfast offered was underwhelming, with only four choices available and was really terrible. For the price paid, I expected a wider selection and higher quality options. Overall, my stay at this hotel was disappointing. Despite the pleasant view, the lack of cleanliness, outdated facilities, and subpar breakfast made it clear that this establishment is not worth the money. I would not recommend it to others seeking accommodation in the area.
